Hello Readers
Well here we are, almost at the end of March. The snow is all but gone in town now, however out at the "Woods" there is still plenty of the white stuff everywhere and the lake is still a frozen mass.
This weekend will be the last for skiing at Hidden Valley for the season (yes, we can still ski up here). They were to be open Sat and Sun, however they will assess the ability to open Sunday tomorrow. The Dummy Race is scheduled for Sunday, which is always a blast (last year Lucy and a friend entered their dummy Doctor Furby), so I hope the weather cooperates and allows it to go ahead.
I find this time of year frustrating as I know we have a fully booked house come the Victoria Day Weekend and all I want to do is get going and get things happening. Raking, putting the water back on, spring cleaning the cottages, painting, planting, boats back in the water, raft out....Anyway, I'll just have to be patient.
All but one or two deposits have now been paid for the summer, so thank you everyone. Those of you looking at our vacancy calendar please note that all the reservations you see are now confirmed, so if you see an opening that interests you, give us a call. Inquiries are picking up with March Break over, so don't leave it too long as you may end up being disappointed. If you have any questions about our cottages or the area, Email us first if you like before making your decision. We always answer all our Emails promptly.
Till next time
John

Hello Spring
Hello Readers
Just a quick update.
Spring has arrived although you would not know it up here at the "Woods". Woke this morning to clear sunny skies with a fresh dusting of snow on the ground and well below zero! Oh well, it will come.
Still enjoying winter activities, including skiing at Hidden Valley where the entire family is today and where I will be in a few hours. Presently I am minding the shop in town for a few hours. Today is the Puddle Jump at Hidden Valley, great to watch, too cold and wet to participate!
With March break finished I am sure many of you will turn to thinking about summer holidays. We still have a number of openings in most weeks, so unlike other years where now it would be almost too late to snag a cottage with us, this year you are in luck. Just check out our vacancy calendar on our website, drop us an Email or give us a call.
If you can't afford the time to enjoy an entire week up here, then come on up for a few days in June or September. In past years we have had hotter and better weather in late June then in July & August! and I am a real fan of Sept due to the warm days, cool nights, and the changing colours.
Till next time

Unique Opportunity
Hello Readers
Just thought it was time to update you on the goings on up this way.
We have had some brutally cold weather but it looks like spring is trying to get underway when you look at the forecast for the next few days.
I had a great walk in the sunshine today with Mollie our dog. We walked along the lake from the Public Beach back to our beach and it was fantastic to be out in such glorious sunshine and no wind. The lake ice is extremly thick (hard to believe it will be gone by the end of April!) and as we walked it boomed and popped constantly.
Skiing conditions are still good at Hidden Valley and I am due to patrol again tomorrow night.
Those of you who have not paid your deposits yet for the coming summer (and you know who you are!) could you please give us a call or send us an Email and arrange to pay your deposit please and thanks.
If you are looking for a cottage with us, we have several openings still, including some in the prized weeks of July 25, Aug 1 and Aug 15, plus the week of July 4 is wide open due to a group cancellation.
Usually we are almost fully booked by now (and we do book completely up for July & August year after year) but I guess the economy is causing people to move cautiously with plans etc. this year, however if you have ever wanted to gain a spot here at Algonquin Woods, now is an excellent opportunity. Once you have stayed with us once, you automatically have the same cottage and week the next year (providing of course you want to return).
Anyway, if you are searching for a holiday destination, just give us a call or send us an Email and we are happy to answer all of your questions. Staying at a cottage resort is an extremely good value holiday considering the cost can be less then $1,000 for a family of 4 for an entire 7 nights stay.
So till next time
