Hello Readers
Hard to believe but it is almost June.
We have been very busy.
Louise has got the gardening bug and is ripping out old plants and putting in new ones and filling all kinds of baskets & tubs & various containers with flowers. The perennials we planted under our sign last spring are now looking very healthy and our repeat guests should be impressed with the upgraded gardens around our front door.
I have been keeping myself busy lying down on the beach drinking beer in the spring sunshine...... No, I have also been hard at it (flat out like a lizard drinking as they say in Australia) touching up picnic tables and chairs, painted the raft, replaced the rotten log rounds that served as paving stones at the entrance of Cottage #1 with a extension to the existing steps, more raking, lawn mowing, wood splitting, chainsawing, stove repair, painting....
Many of the cottages will have new BBQ's this summer and we have been going around replacing toasters and coffee makers as well. Also splashed out on several new frying pans.
Anyway, looking forward to the return of all our repeat guests and also excited about meeting new guests as well (that we hope will become regular returnees!).
Till next time
John

Testimonials
Thought it time we start to share some of the past comments of our guests we have collected over the past 4 years. We plan on putting them on our website when we get the chance.
First of all, let us say thank you for the great stay at Algonquin Woods. Marie and I really enjoyed the cottage, it was PERFECT. We could not believe how quiet, peaceful and relaxing it was. We slept so well, we could barely get up to go to the race :) Thank you very much for hosting us.
Thank you very much again for your kind hospitality. We have had nice and unforgettable days at Algonquin Woods.
Thankyou for letting our family come & enjoy the beautiful and peacefull surounding that you had to offer. Being our first time we really enjoy ever aspect of the vacation that was offer to us. From the first day greetings to the weiner roast, and all other warm helpful tips. The name of the lake speaks for it self and all other things that were offer up to us to enjoy while we were there. Being able to make new friends, to the nightly camp fire to even enjoying of our little animal friends. We are already counting down the days till our return next summer for another enjoyable week with your family and new/old friends. Till then take care and we will keep you up to date on our new little ones coming this fall, with pictures etc.
I hope that the pictures that we sent of our vacation reached you well. We had a fabulous time and so did the kids. Thank goodness we spent a couple of days at Canada's Wonderland the weekend of our departure, as it took the kids' minds off the fact that they had to leave Algonquin Woods. The Saturday that we leave is generally a sad day for the family!
Just wanted to say thanks again for a nice stay at your resort. The crackling fire was wonderful to come inside to. The kids had a great time with all your amenities and games. Thanks also for helping us to get to Huntsville. Your kindness and hospitality were greatly appreciated.
Just wanted to say thank you for a nice weekend. We enjoyed our stay, and will be back some day.
We left around 10:30am this morning, hanging the key of cottage 2 right beside your door.We just would like to thank you for letting us have such a beautiful long weekend in your cottage. It's so comfortable and nice. You guys are very thoughtful. We really appreciate that.Wish your whole family have a good Thanksgiving day.
Thanks again for the wonderful time we had at the cottage. It was very relaxing and quiet for us. That is certainly different for us with our large family!
Forgot to mention on our comment card last week how much our family enjoyed the "weenie roast" and the scavenger hunt. The kids really really had a good time with these activities! Thanks again, we had a terrific week!
We had a fabulous time - one of the best in a while anyway, despite the cooler weather and we look forward to returning next year. You are a super couple and we wish you all the best for your summer season and beyond. Thanks for all your help this past week.

How Do You Like Our New Look Website?
Hello Readers
So how do you like the look of our refreshed website. We thought it time for an update.
Just finished another successful start to the season with a full house on the Victoria Day Weekend. A few more guests booked in for this coming Memorial Day weekend (yes, despite the dollar we have some US visitors coming north). Actually looking like a fantastic weekend weather wise, a nice change after last weekends Fall like conditions!
Still spots open for the summer, so come on and join us. If the summer doesn't work, why not spend a few days up here in June.
Till next time
John

May Happenings
Hello Readers
Just bring you up to date with things here at the Woods.
The Big Spring clean is underway and all the cottages are getting a thorough going over.
BBQ's are ready for action and we presently have 2 brand new ones in the fleet. Water is back on but not without me having to buy a new pump! A long story and I'll share it with you in the summer.
Replacing a lot of the coffee makers, toasters, frying pans......
Put the swimming buoys out today but not sure if I'll get the raft out for the weekend or not. All boats are back in the water and I have one motor out. Had our first spin around the lake on Mothers Day.
Just took a delivery of firewood for the stoves, ice is ordered for the coming weekend (lets hope it is hot enough to warrant the use of coolers to keep the beers cold!) and Louise has begun planting things in the garden.

Hello May
Hello Readers
Things are progressing nicely so far for having eveything ready to go for the Victoria Day Long Weekend. Our group of regulars are once again renting all 10 cottages and so sorry, we are fully booked.
The dock is now repaired (yet again) and this year I have put on 6 new side brackets and pipes with new base plates, plus replaced some worn out boards. It is now nice and level. However my favourite Swiss Army knife fell out of pockect and dropped between the boards, so I guess I won't have it again until the lake warms up!
The surf bikes are back together, motors out of the basement, pump and associated gear back in the pumphouse, ready for installation tomorrow and I got the ping pong shelter back up along with the table.
So far no BUGS (I know they are out there and waiting though!) and it has been great for working. The next few days I'll probaby be inside the cottages, so if they decide to come out, they are welcome to it.
Still 3 spots left for the Muskoka TRi weekend, plus a dozen or so spots in the summer.
