Seasons Greetings from the Woods

Hello Readers

Ah, nothing like the first fresh snow after a long, (1 week!) dry, hot summer. As I write, their is a gentle dusting of white on all the cottages and some is even starting to cover the branches of the pines. The hill I just finished raking 2 days ago is half covered in a blanket of white.....

The Loons are Back.

Hi Blog Readers
The loons are back, I awoke to their call 2 mornings ago. Also been some duck cruising around the beach.

Just thought I'd let you know I finished raking the entire place (yet again!).

Was hoping to get into some painting next week but temps are looking a bit on the low side.

Dock is in need of repair after taking another wicked beating from the ice. I think it must be our position in the bay as my neighbours docks on both sides of us are virtually the same design and left untouched, yet ours is in a real state.

Till next time.

The Ice is Gone!

Hello Readers

I am now looking out our window at a lake free of ice. A rapid break-up started late today and by dinner time there was only a few floaters left.

Now I just need a few stubborn patches of snow to melt away!

Tidy up of the place is progressing nicely.

Spring Tasks Update

Well, we are off and running and the spring tidy up as started, although I am still waiting for some large patches of snow to go. And believe it or not, we are still looking out at a frozen Clear Lake! I suspect it will "open" up sometime tomorrow or late tonight.

Raking has begun, golf cart is up and running, stacking camp firewood, cleaning staff is booked for the spring clean, cottage 7 is fully repaired .....

Looking into obtaining high speed internet for ourselves (yes we are still on dial-up and it is a killer) and all going well it may be available in the cottages. I'll keep you posted on that one.

Still vacant spots in some choice weeks. If you have already booked a cottage and would like friends or family to join you, let us know as soon as possible.

Spring Action

Hello Readers

I am sitting here looking out our window at a still snow covered landscape and a frozen lake! There are bare patches of grass appearing and 95% of our driveway is now bare, albeit muddy in places, but we still can't start our spring raking etc.

Today and tomorrow are looking to be very warm so hopefully the melt will increase dramatically.

Spent yesterday morning with our electrician hooking the power back up to cottage 7 which included installing a new mast. Today I will finish off the repairs so it is ready for painting as soon as we have warmer weather.

Tool shed is cleaned up, snow blowers etc. put away for the season, mower started yesterday first pull (I know there is no grass to cut yet but I am anxious to get going!) and chainsaw sharpened and ready for action.

Still some open spots for this summer so give us a call if you are looking for a summer holiday.

Looking at freshening up the website, so look for some changes there in the coming weeks.

Till next time

April Update

Hello Blog Readers

Long time no hear, sorry.

Spring is here but the snow refuses to leave the "Woods". Still thigh deep and over 98% of the place still covered in snow. Can't wait to be able to start tidying the ground up after the wild winter we had.

There are still a few people out there who have not paid their deposits as of yet, so please give us a call or send us an Email and let us know what you are doing.

Those looking for a summer spot, still openings on our calendar, so have a look and get in touch with us. We fill up every year, so don't leave it until too late.

Victoria day/May long weekend is booked out, still spots for the Huntsville Tri in June. If you are coming up for the Iron Man in September, we have cottages available so give us a call.

Till next time
