Fall Chores Update

Hello Readers

Just though I would bring you up to speed on the fall chores here at the Woods.

Mid-20's today, sun, just unbelievable! Hard to bring myself to continue with the winterising!

Took my last spin around the lake today and saw mostly empty docks and not much activity other the the loons and some ducks.

Pumphouse is now empty, half of the cottages are now drained and almost ready for winter, plus the campground water is now off. Took the last of the boats out today and put another motor down in the basement. Cleaned off all the cottage rooves and gutters. All the toys and sport equipment is away and the storm windows are now installed on Cottage 1 and 10.

I'll finish draining the rest of the cottages tomorrow then onto the dreaded raking.

Till next time

The End of Yet Another Season

Hello Blog Readers

Well, hard to believe, but we are approaching the end of yet another busy and successful cottaging season.

Yes, we have the 2 cottages, #1 and #10 both available year round, but after this coming Sunday I will begin the process of winterising the place. Shut the pumphouse down, drain all the cottages, anti-freeze in all the traps, flip up the mattresses, clean and store all the bedding, boat motors into the basement, kayaks put away under the cottages....and of course the lovely job of raking!

That said, we still have colour up this way and a spectacular pile of leaves on the ground. 3 cottages are booked out for this weekend, so if you are thinking of a last minute break before fall moves into winter, give us a call. Cottages 4 & 5, both with air-tight woodstoves are still available as are 9 and 10 which both have propane heat.

Till next time

October's Warm Arrival

Hello Blog Readers

Well for those of you not up here this week you are missing some fantastic weather. Other then the fact that the lake is getting a bit cool, swimming is definitely on the agenda today. And it looks like the next few days are going to be very summery as well.

This has been a great fall and a welcome change from last years, cold, windstorms and rain.

The colours are progressing well, but no where near as advanced as last year at this time, so those of you coming up this weekend for Thanksgiving are in for a real treat.

We had a full house this past weekend (in fact every weekend in Sept was full except for the weekend of the 15) and our guests had a fantastic time.

We still have one spot left for Thanksgiving, Cottage #6, a 2 bedroom lakefront with a woodstove. It goes for $415 (plus tax) for the 3 nights for up to 4 people. So if you are interested, give us a call.

Till next time
