Spring is back although as a cooler version.
Looks like some fantastic weather for the next few days, sunny and in the "teens". Just ideal for walking in Algonquin and working outside.
The raking continues. Need to do some painting as well but will need to wait for warmer temps.
We have some guests checking in this afternoon for 3 nights, they should have a beautiful few days. Most of the local golf courses will open this weekend as well.
Saw our resident woodpecker this morning. He must be the biggest woodpecker I have ever seen. And he is not shy. I have come across him pecking away on an old stump at ground level and he as all but ignored me.
Till next time.

No, Not Snow!
Yes, we awoke this morning to the white stuff covering the cottage "tops" and dusting the grass and trees in white. What happened to summer? It is clear and sunny now but cold and windy.

Summer is Here
What a fantastic last few days we have had.
The mornings have been just glorious. The lake, which was a white, frozen landscape only a few days ago, has been replaced by a mirror. The loon(s) are back and there eerie call has woken us the past few mornings. Birds are everywhere, chipmunks and squirrels scurrying around and there are green shoots appearing on the populars.
It is a shame the water is so cold at the moment as it is so crystal clear the temptation to dive straight in is almost overwhelming.
Last night Lucy and Harriet were running around in their bare feet under the trees above Cottage 7, where only a week ago there was snow.
Been a productive few days, all the time spent raking. Slowly working my way around the place. It is now all cleaned up down the drive, around Cottage 8, the shuffleboard court and around our house. The dock was badly damaged by the winter ice, but I am waiting a few weeks for the water to warm up a bit before I enter the lake and attempt a repair!

Open Water
The lake is transformed and I am now looking out the window at open water. There is a few bergs/sheets floating around but by tomorrow I suspect there will be no ice left at all.

Happy Easter
Happy Easter to all you Blog Readers
Well, things have undergone a huge change since I last wrote and I am happy to report we have almost no snow left! There are still a few stubborn banks here and there, pockets in the bush and a large patch between cottage 7 & 3 but I suspect by mid week we should have none left. The lake is also breaking up and there are patches of open water.
Spent today raking and cleaning up the verge and the driveway and a few other things. It is a beautiful day, sunny and warm with a light breeze, perfect for working.
I'll keep you posted with the opening up process.

Winters Retreat, Springs Advance
Going to be 15C today, ah.
That should take some more snow out. Still unable to drive to the cottages and Clear lake is still a frozen white mass, although things are now breaking up around the edges. Our place is still probably about 50% snow covered and walking to cottages 3,4,5 or 6 is still difficult.
Hopefully by the end of next week we can start raking and cleaning the place up.
Still some openings for the Triathlon weekend for any one coming up. Only 4 spots left in July & August now and only one spot left for Labour Day weekend.
Have a happy Easter holiday and enjoy your 4 day weekend.
