The Big Melt is Underway

A balmy 20c on the back deck this afternoon, so hopefully that will put a serious dent in the snow around the place. I know you people down south are probably thinking it must be all gone by now but over 90% of our property is still snow covered and there is still knee high drifts around the place. And yes, Clear Lake is still well and truly frozen.

About a 1/4 of the shuffleboard court is once again visible. Most of the cottages roofs are now free of snow and yes there are patches of grass starting to poke through. Calling for some rain and continuing warm temps, so hopefully in the next few days more of the white stuff will go.

Only 5 spots left for July & August, so if you are thinking about joining us this summer, don't leave it much longer.

The weekend of June 16-18 is filling fast for the Muskoka Triathlon, so if you are coming to watch or participate, give us a call. I think we have only 2 cottages left.

Till next time

Spring, Spring, Spring

The snow is slowly melting away up here. Water, ice, slush, snow, some mud peeking through, you name it, the drive is starting to look pretty special.

Our post at the road that we hang our welcome flag on is re-appearing at last and the banks at the end of the drive are at a height where you can almost see over them now. The bench near the shuffleboard court was completely buried this winter but the top is now visible. The swings are almost ready to start swinging again, but are still hanging in the snow. I just dug a path of sorts, yet again, through a huge drift so I could get to the pump house.

The next few days show above zero days and below zero nights so we should be losing snow continually now. Getting itchy to get out there and start "dewinterising" and "summerising" the place. May long weekend is not that far off!!

Till next time.

Come on Spring!!!

Spring has sprung, the grass has ris, I wonder where the birdies is.....Okay, I'm stretching it a bit. There is still snow on the ground (in fact it snowed last night and was -10 when I got up this morning), Clear lake is still frozen solid and I can see no grass, but eh, the calendar says it is spring.

Hopefully in the next few weeks things will start warming up and we can start getting ready for another great spring, summer fall season.

We just updated the home page to try and hurry up the coming of warmer weather and the calls about cottages for the summer are picking up again as people return from March break and start thinking about July & August.

We still have 7 spots for the summer left, including cottages for the week of July 15, so if you are still thinking about a lake side vacation, give us a call.

May 24th weekend is booked out but we still have cottages for the Muskoka Triathlon weekend (June 17 & 18), so if you are participating in that or just want to come up to watch, get in touch.

Last year June was fantastic, hot, sunny and the lake warmed up early, so if you can't fit in a week in the summer maybe consider June or September.

Till next time
