Goodbye July

Well, hard to believe, but tomorrow August is here and week 5 has begun.

Our guests enjoyed themselves last week, despite the mixed bag of weather. We had a blend of new families and returning families last week and 3 of our new families re-booked again for next year ( as did all our returning familes) they had such a good time!

Today is looking like it is going to be a beautiful day, as are the next few.

Yesterday was our usual busy day as we ran around like "Tasmanian Devils" between 10:00am and 3:00pm getting the cottages ready for our next round of guests. Raking the beach, straightening up the tables and chairs, recycling, cleaning the cottages, checking out the sports equipment, washing pillow protectors & mattress covers, picking up litter, tending to dripping taps etc.

The day was topped off with a refreshing swim and a magnificent sunset (yet again!).

Well, I better go and get the some breakfast organised.

Till next time

Where is the Summer Going!?

I can't believe it, we are nearing the end of July already!

We finally had some rain this week and cooler weather, which I know dissapointed our guests, but we sure needed it. Today however is going to be just fantastic with clear skies and 25c.

I was just down at the lake (7am) and with the cooler morning air, clear blue skies, crystal clear water (it is called Clear Lake you know) and the "morning mist" it was quite a sight.

We have family visiting us from the UK this week, so we have taken our responsibilities as tour guides seriously and they have been to Dorset and the fire tower, Arrowhead for a hike, ice cream in Huntsville, golfing, swimming and today off to Algonquin Park. They have also learned how to play shuffle board and horseshoes!

Well better go and find some toast and coffee.

Till next time

July Update

Hi Blogger Readers

Sorry for being absent but it is a busy time of the year.

We are into our third full week now, hard to believe.

The weather has been magnificient although it has been a little bit too hot. Things have finally cooled off though and today we are in the high 20's with lower humidity and clear skies and it is just beautiful. We found Australia cooler then this place!!

The lake is very warm but still cool enough to refresh. Fishing has been good this week and some of our regular guests are bringing in small mouh bass everyday.

We have had a very last minute cancellation and so yes, we have a vacant cottage from this Saturday July 23 until Saturday July 30, so if you want to join us here, give us a call ASAP. It is the only vacancy we have until Labour Day Monday.

Until next time...

Summer Well Underway

Well, we are into our second week of guests now. The weather has been fantastic and it looks like it is going to continue, although to be honest we could use some rain!

We are fully booked from now until Labour Day but if you are still looking for a cottage come up and see us in September.

Busy day ahead today, so this BLOG is brief, sorry.

Till next time

July and Summer is underway

Hi Again

The photo is Lucy down on our dock the other night as the sun was setting on Clear Lake. A pontential guest Emailed us the other day and asked what the sunset was like on Clear Lake, I think the picture tells it all.

Let me start by saying I have been incorrect in thinking I have no readership. Another reader contacted me via Email (hi Liette), so I now know at least 3 people are visiting my BLOG! If you are a regular reader, post us a message (a polite one) or send us an Email at info@algonquinwoods.com.

Today, our July 1 guests will check-out and our first full week (well a 6 day week) begins. We have only 1 cottage left for the entire summer and it is for this week, #10, so if you are a last minute person give us a call.

The weather has been fantastic and this first week looks like it is going to be beautiful. In fact we really could use some more rain. Yesterday was one of the most busiest days I have ever seen on our waterfront. Paddle boats out all day, row boat in constant use, both motor boats "out and about". And the temperature of the lake is unbelieveable.

Well, better get organised for change over day. There is much to do between now and 3:00om this afternoon.

Till next time

John
